Heather Bouton

Heather's been playing drums since the age of 10.  Heather started out like many of the students she teaches, in 5th grade school band. Under Burlington Central's director Gene Vanden Bosch, she continued playing in high school concert, marching, and jazz band.  "Mr. Vanden Bosch brought out the best in me and helped me to realize that music was something I enjoyed and was good at."  After high school, Heather studied at Elgin Community College, Northern Illinois University, and DePaul University School of Music where she has made a name for herself as a well-rounded percussionist.  Playing in various bands and combos of all styles, Heather encourages her students to be versatile and dynamic players.  

Heather has many accolades as an instructor.  She has students performing in many area symphonies and accredited rock and jazz groups. Heather has students representing Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra, Schaumburg Youth Orchestra, Chrystal Lake Thunder and Strykers WGI drum line, Larkin High School Performing Arts Academy, South Elgin High School drum line, Bartlett High School, Streamwood High School, Elgin High School, Marmion Academy, IMLEA, and WSMA solo and ensemble, as well as many of Heather's Students are honors band members of their schools.  Heather has former students who have gone on to become school band directors, performing musicians in the rock, jazz, and Broadway arenas, recording artists, and DCI players.
